The Mayor of Rushmoor, Mara Makunura, was invited into school to meet students at the International Club and she very happily accepted the invitation. She wanted to know more about the school and find out about its diverse community. She was very impressed with the inclusive atmosphere and the way that students’ cultural heritages are celebrated. One of our students, Natalie, gave a short presentation about South Africa and then the Mayor spoke. She told students all about how she became the Mayor of Rushmoor and inspired them to aim high and not to give up when at first you do not achieve your goals. She also spoke about her heritage country of Zimbabwe and other students from Zimbabwe stood alongside her. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the room and the Mayor said she would like to return for a much longer visit!
