Attendance Officer:
Miss Becky Sefton rsefton@bohuntfarnborough.com
It is a legal requirement that your child attends school regularly. Excellent attendance is vital to students achieving their potential and, as a school, we place the highest importance on students being present and punctual. We expect students to achieve as close to 100% attendance as possible.
Please note that, like all Hampshire schools, Bohunt Farnborough will not authorise family holidays during term time and you are likely to be fined by the Local authority for each child and each week of absence. You may view all term dates for this academic year on our calendar.
On the day Absences
When your child is unwell you must inform the school on the first morning of absence and, for safeguarding purposes, provide daily updates. Medical certification must be provided for any illness exceeding 5 days.
To report an absence please advise us of absences as early as possible by leaving a message on the school absence line 01276 702540, select option 1.
Please refer to NHS guidance on common conditions on the ‘Healthier Together’ poster – download here.
Appointments
We ask that where possible you do not book routine medical appointments during the school day. Where this is not possible please ensure that your child attends school both before and /or after the appointment time as applicable.
Planned Absences
An absence request form (below) must be completed well in advance of the dates required. These can also be obtained from reception as a paper copy or the below completed and emailed to the Attendance Officer, and in all cases, the Headteacher’s decision is final.
Parents/Carers who choose to ignore the law are complicit with their child’s absence. This can include:
Please note that each parent/carer can be issued a separate penalty notice and fine for each child.
Should parents have any concerns about their child’s attendance in school, they should contact their child’s tutor in the first instance. Further enquiries to our Attendance Officer.
