On the 12th of May, twelve Year 8 students were granted the opportunity to ‘graduate’ from the Scholar’s Programme they took part in for six weeks this year. The course is run by a charity called The Brilliant Club, they aim to support students’ futures and expose them to Higher and Further Education. Each session in the academic year is created by a PHD student at a University in England. It is based on their academic pursuits, and they deliver a course to our students. It teaches students how to write a 1500 word essay with university style skills and ideas. After their six weeks’ hard work, the students were able to go to Balliol College, University of Oxford.
The students spent the journey singing (the radio wasn’t working) and touring Balliol College. They received certificates alongside students from other schools. It was such a big achievement, we are really proud!
